 | 10:42 pm - Installment 6; Ada and the Hunger Games I had a bit of free time today! Let's see if that happens again this week.
So I wrote.
Epic Ada Hunger Games story
So Far: Part 1, the reaping Part 2, mentoring, prepping and parades Part 3, training and scores Part 4, the interview Part 5, the cornucopia
Part 6, hunting 1080ish words Warnings: More people are killed within
( Obviously, because this installment is being written, the odds were in her favor of action happening. )

 | 09:37 pm - gmail themes; rl My week and weekend have been busy. And I am not sure when it will let up. :/
Week 67: Tree - This theme is much better when it actually changes with the weather. And where I live we went through several different weather phenomena this week - rain, sun, cloudy, thunderstorms, so it was interesting to see all those different scenes of the tree. What I didn't like was that the inbox covered the tree so it was hard to see unless I scrolled down all the way to the bottom. But I guess the sky was more important in this theme anyway. Also, the weather seemed a little bit off sometimes, like a delayed reaction ("It's sunny now, why does it still say it's cloudy?"), but overall, I was quite happy with it.

 | 06:16 pm - Installment 5; Ada and the Hunger Games Another Sunday Ada and gmail mix. Because I'm awesome.
Week 66: Cherry Blossom - Pretty. It didn't do anything but the background was a nice white with pink flowers on it. If I'm being honest, I actually started to get a little bored of it by the end of the week - maybe I've been spoiled by the changing ones because I wasn't bored on the basic themes. But it was a nice background, very pretty, and I might use it again if I wanted to feel all pretty and spring-like.

Part 5, the cornucopia 1050ish words Warnings: There is violence and there are less than 24 tributes by the end of this installment
( How dare I take out the obvious weak link to an alliance and give myself a better chance of winning? Seriously? You're delusional Girl One. )

 | 10:49 pm - Installment 4; Ada and the Hunger Games Also gmail themes!
Week 65: Tree Tops - Tbh, I liked this theme better on the old gmail. it gave you more of an impression of being on the ground and looking up through the tree tops. This one was mostly sky with some large leaves off to the side. So it was way too zoomed in, and if not for the name of the theme, I'm not sure how you would even know it was supposed to be the top of the tree you were seeing. So compared to the last time I interviewed this on the old look, I am highly disappointed with Tree Tops this time around and so probably wouldn't use it again.
Next week's theme: Cherry Blossom
And after crazy busy finals time and my life/day being hard, I decided to write up Ada's interview. It was better in my head than it turned out on paper, but I think it still captured her pretty well.

( Well, ACTUALLY, Caesar, I have heard an awful, AWFUL rumor concerning the reason there were no volunteers. )

 | 08:29 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 64: Turf - This is the grass theme, and based on what I wrote last time, it is a bit different than last time as the whole background was covered in the grass and it was very up close. I like green themes and so I obviously liked this one. The picture was very pretty and it was nice and spring-like for the season. It didn't change, but I still liked it.

 | 05:28 pm - Installment 3; Ada and the Hunger Games So glad this week is over, guys. I had so much to do - two early morning meetings, two recess duties, a student council meeting, a field trip that I was in charge of, plus a nighttime parent meeting and final presentations in my classes (thankfully, one class was pushed back until next week to give me some breathing room). I love how everything happens at the same time. <<
Anyway, to celebrate surviving it all, I have written part 3 of Ada's HG story.
Epic Ada Hunger Games Story:
So Far: Part 1, the reaping Part 2, mentoring, prepping and parades
Part 3, training and scores 1315ish words Warnings: Ada is a brat
( My name is Ada Crumb, and I will be the victor of this year's Hunger Games. )

 | 09:14 pm - gmail themes; rl Funny how I play so much more spider solitaire when I have big projects due.
Week 63: Planets - Another dark theme, but as this one changed from day to day it was better than Graffiti. Obviously some of the planets were prettier than others. Saturn yesterday was gorgeous, and the sun for Sunday was very nice as well. you definitely had the impression of being in outer space and the translucent inbox was good in showing off the planets in the back.
If you want another opinion, when I was checking my email Monday afternoon to see if a student was going to after school care or not she pointed to the computer screen and said "ewwww." I think it was supposed to be the moon that day. <<
Would use it again but it wasn't a favorite.

 | 11:00 pm - Installment 2; Ada and the Hunger Games I wasn't expecting to get to this so fast, really. However, last night I had the most boring class ever wherein after we all discussed the worst PD experiences we ever had, my professor decides to give us a lecture on PD pretty much by doing all the things we hated. And while my grad school bff was busy sorting a list of all the students she ever had by first name to see if the names covered all letters of the alphabet (she was missing 2), I "productively" used this time to come up with a bunch of incredibly stupid (and a couple good - I would actually use my Girl D4 name in a game if I played Girl D4) names for all the tributes that will be in Ada's Hunger Games. And considering I planned on just calling them by gender and number for most of them, you can thank my professor for boring me so much I came up with this (or not)
In case you are curious, here is the ( list: )
I make such good use of my time. << Anyway, after that, I was inspired to write part 2, so here you go!
Epic Ada Hunger Games story
So Far: Part 1, the reaping
Part 2, mentoring, prepping and parades 1051-ish words Warnings: It’s still about Ada Note: Pretend Kim Kardashian isn’t way too old in the pictures I chose for her parade costume. They just seemed a good fit.
( After all, if there's anything Ada Crumb likes better than being adored and in the limelight, I have yet to figure it out. )

 | 07:29 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 62: Graffiti - Not a fan! It was dark (and we know by now I don't particularly care for dark themes) and didn't change at any time. It had some graffiti in the middle and the inbox was translucent (except for unread emails) so you could see the colors behind them but it always felt like just part of a picture and it was annoying you couldn't see all of it. Honestly, I would rather have a 'boring' theme in pretty colors over this s called 'interesting' theme and I'm glad to be rid of it. I probably won't go back (you know, until gmail themes generation 3 ;p).

 | 11:41 pm - I'm spamming today; Ada and the Hunger Games I did a lot of writing today and also finished the first part of my epic crossover Ada Crumb in the Hunger Games story (which is a good person to write about since she's miffed she was only chosen for two drabble prompts).
Sorry for the spam but I felt this deserved its own entry. Also, my name choices suck because I can't be bothered to think of actual clever Panem names.

 | 11:09 pm - I finished my drabbles!; various It took four plus years to do and at times I never thought I'd get there, but I have finally finished my prompt table. For those interested in statistics, Marietta ended up being requested for the most prompts, coming in at 33, followed by Sylvie at 18 and Annie at 13. The two lowest vote getters were Ada and Greta! with 2 each (and some characters got none, like Rose, Erica and Su, but I'm not sure they count). I don't think these are the best of the 100 I've written, but here they are, the final 5.
( 90) Incomplete - Emma, requested by Lucy )
( 13) Talent - Marietta, requested by Katie/kat_bus )
( 16) Taste - Greta!, requested by Bronte )
( 44) Fringe - Sylvie, requested by Bronte )
( 84) Waves - Juliana - requested by Me )

 | 12:11 am - gmail themes; rl Technically it's Monday now, but since I haven't gone to bed yet I say I made it in time.
Week 61: Ocean - This was a time of day changer! So you pretty much had the same view of the ocean and the sky changed based on whether it was morning, midday, evening or night (at least, those were the only four I picked up). The inbox was fairly translucent so you couldn't really see the scene behind it, though since most of what was behind it was sky, it didn't really matter. Not much of a contrast between read and unread emails. But overall, I liked it and would probably use it again. I like ocean scenes and the fact that the sky went through a rotation made it interesting enough that I wouldn't get bored with it.

 | 01:42 pm - gmail themes; rl First, I want to say that I love what google maps did for April Fool's Day.
I am also glad I am not famous enough to RP.
Now onto the point:
Week 60: Pebbles - I was spoiled the past couple of weeks - this one doesn't change so it was the same scene of pebbles all week. That said, it was rather zen in a gray sort of way and it had the translucent inbox so you could see the texture of the rocks underneath them. There was not a lot of contrast between read and unread emails, not enough for me anyway, but it was okay and I didn't hate having this theme or anything.
Next week's theme: Ocean
EDIT: Shockwave has also done a couple fun April Fool's Day things with their daily games. I approve.

 | 06:11 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 59: Mountains - Pretty! I like oceans better than mountains, but I do like mountains, too, and they had some very pretty scenes. It was another one that changed day by day and I liked them all except for Saturday - for some reasons it appeared to be all sky and no mountain and it didn't fit the theme. But otherwise, it was very nice and calming and pretty and I would use it again, totally.

 | 11:22 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 58: Beach - This theme made me happy. It was similar to Beach in the old style, but I think it was a little bit different. Anyway, it changed day by day and all the days had things like water and umbrellas and sand and it was absolutely lovely and I was very very happy with it (my inner J liked it, too, obv). I would most definitrely use this one again. It was light and pretty and happy and the gray inbox went very well with the background pictures. Two thumbs up.

 | 02:56 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 57: Desk - The background was very similar to Wood only the grain was smaller, but the color was nearly identical (desk was a bit darker). It was neater and more polished and seemed to be one large piece rather than slats put together. The inbox was an opaque gray this time, that's where the bigger difference comes in, and unread messages only get a little bit lighter, so there's not as much contrast there. I didn't mind it, but I'm not sure I'd use it again. I mean, I'd use that color for a real desk, but probably not for email. I prefer something a bit cheerier and less serious.

 | 07:03 pm - gmail themes; rl Week 56: Wood - Hey, I've moved onto the HD themes, go me! And another teacher at work said she liked my theme when I had to look up a parent email for her. As for me...well, not the biggest fan of brown, but the wood was nicer than just plain brown. The overlay of the email was a bit translucent so you could see the wood grain behind the inbox, which was a nice effect. Unread messages became an opaque gray and bold, so the contrast was effective but not tacky. It kind of looked like my email was tacked up against a wall. Overall, I was content with it, but I probably wouldn't rush to use it again, despite what my coworker thought. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, it was not a changing theme - it was the same wood all week.

 | 06:23 am - gmail themes; rl Week 55: High Contrast - Last of the generic color themes, yay! Now, I like contrast in my emails, so this one seemed right up my alley, and it did have the adequate contrast in read and unread emails and I liked that but it was gray and like the default except, well, higher contrast. Point being, it was decent, but nothing to write home about. I prefer my email box to look more exciting than the default. And this was like default plus. But I didn't hate it, so there is that.
